MANILA - Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on Tuesday said he has requested his name and photo to be removed from a food truck that serves free "lugaw" or rice porridge. A social media user had re-posted media photos of the truck "Kusina ni Isko" (Isko's Kitchen) and tagged the mayor on Twitter, saying "Bawal epal 'di ba po?" (Isn't there a ban on attention mongers?) Moreno replied, "Netizens have a point on this one. Nakisuyo na po ako sa nag-donate po ng food truck na huwag na lang ilagay ang mukha at pangalan ko." (I have asked the person who donated the food truck to remove my face and name.)

The truck, he suggested, could instead be dubbed "Kusina ng Maynila" or "Kusina para sa Batang Maynila" which translate to "Kitchen of Manila" and "Kitchen for the Manila Child", respectively. "Next flag ceremony, wala na po iyan," he added. (It won't be there by the next flag ceremony.) The 44-year-old mayor earlier ordered the removal of the names of politicians from public and private schools and hospitals in the capital. Moreno, who unseated former longtime Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada last May, has won praise from several sectors for cleaning up Divisoria and other city streets of vendors and removing garbage from Liwasang Bonifacio.
