Risa Hontiveros sa term extension: 'Kung magtatrabaho ka, marami kang magagawa'

MANILA - Hindi sang-ayon si Sen. Risa Hontiveros sa panukala na palawigin ang termino ng mga mambabatas. 

"Wala 'yan sa term extension. Kung magtatrabaho ka, marami kang magagawa," sabi ni Hontiveros sa kaniyang tweet Sabado ng umaga.

Walang direktang pinatukuyan si Hontiveros, pero nitong Miyerkoles, sinabi ni Taguig-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano nais niyang pahabain pa ang termino ng mga mambabatas sa apat na taon na walang term limit o limang taon na may 3-term limit.

Sa ngayon, ang mga miyembro ng House of Representatives ay may 3-taong termino at hindi maaaring magsilbi ng higit tatlong magkakasunod na termino, or kabuuang 9 na taon. 

Ayon kay Cayetano, praktikal ang term extension dahil aniya, sa unang 6 na buwan ng termino ng isang mambabatas ay nago-organisa pa ito. 

Ngunit tila di sang-ayon dito si Hontiveros at ibinigay pa bilang halimbawa sina Manila Mayor Isko Moreno at Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, mga bagong halal na umaksiyon agad sa mga problema sa kani-kanilang mga lugar. 

"Mayors Isko (Moreno) and Vico (Sotto), in their few weeks in office, have done a lot," dagdag niya. 

Ayon pa sa tweet ng senadora, nakapagpasa siya ng 13 batas sa loob ng tatlong taong panunungkulan, kabilang na dito ang Expanded Maternity Leave, Enchanced Anti-Hospital Deposit, Mental Health at Safe Spaces Acts.

Si Cayetano ang inendorso ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte bilang susunod na speaker ng mababang kapulungan ng Kongreso. Maghahati sila ng termino ni Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco.
