Manila, Philippines – Ibabalik ng Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) ang P1.08 Billion sa mga customer nito matapos ang natuklasang miscalculations sa net settlement surplus (NSS) allocations mula Hunyo 2018 hanggang Mayo 2019.

Base sa inilabas na statement ngayong Lunes, inatasan ng Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) noong August 1 ang Philippine Electricity Market Corporation/ Market Operator (PEMC/MO) na magsagawa ng kinakailangang adjustment sa NSS allocations.


Ito ay kasunod ng pagkadiskubre sa audit ng ilang inconsistencies sa share of generators and customers sa NSS allocations na inilabas ng PEMC/MO sa mga nasabing buwan.

Sa balidasyon, ang nakitang “miscalculations” ay sanhi ng “erroneous” application ng formula sa software ayon sa report ng PEMC/MO sa ERC.

Umabot sa P1.774 billion ang adjustment na nakita mula sa NSS correction.

“The Commission directed the PEMC/MO to immediately effect the refund to consumers. Total refunds due our Luzon and Visayas consumers amount to P1.403 billion,” ani ERC Chair Agnes Devanadera.

Dagdag pa ni Devanadera na 77%, o P1.08 billion, ay maibabalik sa mga customer ng Meralco.

23% naman o P321.36 million ay maibabalik sa mga consumer na sakop ng distribution utilities.

Ang natitirang P371 million ay para naman sa  generation companies, retail electricity suppliers, at directly connected customers.
