Manila, Philippines – Nagsampa ng kaso ang National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) ngayong Miyerkoles laban sa 21 officials at employees ng Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (Philhealth) dahil sa maanomalyang paggamit ng pondo sa “ghost” dialysis treatments. Matatandaang nasangkot ang WellMed Dialysis Center sa Quezon City sa umanoy pagkubra ng bayad sa Philhealth mula 2016 haggang 2018 para sa mga patay na pasyente na pinalalbas na ginagamot pa rin.

Sa reklamong isinampa sa Department of Justice, papanagutin ang 21 officials ng PhilHealth-Metro Manila na nakipagtransaksyon umano sa WellMed sa paglabag sa anti-graft law, National Health Insurance Act, at ng Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees. “Despite the knowledge that there are already fraudulent claims discovered by the fact finding, investigation, and enforcement department as of June 2018, (they were still given an) accreditation in 2019,” ayon kay and Anti- Graft Division chief Catherine Camposano-Remegio. Dagdag pa nito na “even after the incidents, there was still no withdrawal of the accreditation”. Matatandaang nadismiss ang kaso na isinampa ng DOH laban sa mga sangkot sa Wellmed scam sa Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) dahil sa maling hurisdiksyon ng korte.
